One of the largest telecommunications providers in the world wanted to move as fast as possible to bring their new data center online to serve the clients’ needs in the region. The primary project driver was to achieve a fast track design and construction process. This fast-track six-month schedule began with greenfield construction, included commissioning and delivery of a fully functional data center.

While fast–track delivery was important, attaining a data center that met reliability, scalability and functional goals were equally important. Our team was hired to help conceptualize, then design and construct the new data center.

Based on the results of a detailed analysis of the business, the team decided a Tier 3 facility best suited their needs with full concurrent maintainability as the main design parameter.

In addition, the design and construction was preformed such that once the first phase of the project was completed, the critical infrastructure could be expanded by 100% without interruption to the data centers’ operation. Further, a mirror of the shell was planned, allowing for a doubling of the raised floor and facility infrastructure.

The new data center which supports an antenna and media hub was designed with power and cooling infrastructure to meet high Tier standards. The facility will scale over its life cycle to carry as much as eight times the initial load. This combination of reliability and scalability gives this telecom provider the ability to meet and exceed their customer’s needs now and well into the future.
